Baghdad College of Medicine Forums > The BCMF > The New Ranking System
Posted by: Kademad February 23, 2006 06:48 pm
Rankings are titles given to members depending on the number of their posts, the more u post, the higher your rank will be. The higher you get in your ranks, the more (pips) you get. Pips are those small blue squares next to your name, the "Newbie" has no pips, the "Taking History..." has 1, "Inspecting..." 2 pips, and so on.... When the forum was started, my concern was to encourage everyone to post, so the ranks were made kinda easy, to add thrill to it.. Now things have changed, the forum is well established and the members are joining on a daily basis, so it would be fair enough to increase the post counts, in order to have real discrepancy. This is the old system: ![]() And here's the new one: ![]() Please remember: POSTING NONSENSE JUST TO INCREASE THE POST COUNT MEANS AN EXCUSE FOR ME TO DECREASE THE ABUSERS POST COUNT, so plz don't let me do that! Thanks for understanding.

hey kadem do u think that someday someone will do a heart transplant in this forum
Posted by: SAFA March 21, 2006 08:38 pm
well , this's what i found out palpating: examining "a part of the body" by touch.. percussing: gently tapping "a part of the body" as a part of diagnosis" ausculating: the action of listening to sounds from the heart, lungs, or other organs with a stethoscope. i think these were the ones we didn't know

Well guys these are the essential steps in the clinical examination, in sequence of course: U start by inspecting which is looking without touching, examining carefully, then u proceed to palpating which is (as Safa said) examining by touch, then u move to percussing which is the gentle tapping for eliciting sounds, to examine even more u go to auscultating which is using the stethoscope (el simma3a) to listen to sounds (heart and lungs mainly). I hope it's clear for u now p.s: I think SURELY someday there will be someone doing transplant surgery, Muhannad.
