Members from outside the college, VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC

Hello All

As you know this issue is a very important one, the name of the forum is Baghdad College of Medicine Forums, built mainly for the students in the college and it would lose its meaning if it becomes public. So it was a kind of a rule that students of other colleges are not allowed in.

We have been into positions when other members have registered just to see the site, and it causes a conflict with this rule, I would like to see your opinions about this issue, and we'll do what the majority of you decide, it's about u after all.

The options I thought of are:

1- Abandon this rule totally! and let anyone join BCMF (frankly I don't like this)
2- Make the site visible to all, so guests can see the forum but they won't be able to post.
3- Don't let strangers in, the forum is just for the students of Baghdad College of Medicine.

and if you have another suggestion tell me about it plz.

i think i made my point clear about this issue when i replied 2 Jihan's topic ...

this forum is 4 us 2 discuss our matters ... & if we wanna discuss them with others then we can make it by another ways other than the BCMF ...

so if u wanna discuss ur issues with ppl outside our college then u can make a new website 2 do this ! ... but do not do it in here ! ... it will b a mess !

my opinion is not to make it visible to all . but they can't write anything . .
i guess it's our duty to make ppl know about what they could do to discuss their problems ..
this would give the other students the idea of how to make another version to help their problems .. don't you think so ..

the other opinion which i don't really with right now , is , to make the sign up thing related to you as admin. to approve or not .. , ya3ny to make the students or anyone wanna join talk about him / her self .. to you then you approve .. just like the yahoo groups !

well I guess whatever you do kady still if they wanna join they'd join and you'd never be able to know that they're not BCM students, right?
So I guess those who says that they are outsiders "if i may say" and still wanna join are accepted somehow ... well I really really dont know?!!!
lets see:
1- they'd always be able to register and participate without us knowing them ... that is if they wanted to!
2- those who admit it i think somehow deserves to join!
3- still and after all its BCMF and its ours only!
I really don't know ....
and about letting guests watch well kady then what? what a difference would that make? you know other forums do this inorder to let ppl explore their site (sort of advertisment to the site) so as they'd register! so I guess when you allow it well I guess it wont change a thing! they'd also be able to register! and I don't think they register to watch .. they register to participate, right?

i just got this idea...
you can make a field in the registration proccess in which the guest should tell wheather he is one of us or not* and then members whom are outsiders should be registered and only another new MAIN branch would be available to them while the other main branch would be for us only "BCMs " altogether with the other branch ... and topics of entertainment section I guess could have a link with that branch "or simply you can make shared topics!" that are copied to the other branch and participation are visible in both branches ...!
you can also start serious topics there ... we can tell ppl about it and they join and the site'd enlarge more and more! with us having our own private place on the net

* we could add a question here that only us could answer so that no cheating is possible it could be of multiple choices about 10 choices with two attempts are allowded for a single Ip and then the ip wont have access for 24 hours and the question should be changed from a while to another ... hard job kady I know but .... it'd be your job

even if someone joins as stranger and hides, that's not the real thing coz it is after all a Baghdad COllege of Medicine, so the topics will always be related to our college and our field. It's not only social and people won't be able to hide always, besides the idea is not to gather people only, it's to bring benefit to them and our condition in our college.

I would suggest we put a section for medical students from outside colleges. Because to be visible for all kind of students would make it more social, and we also want to benefit our medical students.

This would help us discuss medical issues with colleges in our countries and share experiences also perhaps international colleges.

I wonder if that is possible.

well Nour why not it works with my idea .. this'd be a shared topic in the branch that they can see and participate in.
while in the same time we'd still have the main branch for our selves only so as we'd have the privacy we need in our branch still we can participate and share ideas and disscussions in the other branch.
Toooo selfish, right?

my opinion is 2 make it visible 2 everyone without letting them participate cozif we prvented others(as we think)they won't be prevented as we really donnu which member is in our beloved college & whom is not..but if we permitted them 2 c the forum ,they would nolonger need 2 rigester &cheat us 2 c what's inside..
am i right?

My openion is to restrict the forum only to the students of Baghdad medical college , because we r discussing many things related to our college ,as the studying problems ,and we almost know everyone here in the forum (except some people who refuse to tell us who r they !!! ) , and from the name of the forum , it is only for our college's students .....

But i am with Noor ,that if we make a section for international medical students or other students from other medical colleges here in Iraq or outside , but they have to introduce themselves first , i think it will b beneficial to share our ideas and thoughts with other medical students ....
